'Mad Men' sets final-season premiere

PASADENA Calif. — Mad Men's final run will begin April 5, meaning that after 92 episodes, Don Draper will make his final appearance on May 17.

AMC made the announcement at the Television Critics Association on Saturday, also detailing plans for resuming The Walking Dead, due Feb. 8 as a lead-in to the premiere of Better Call Saul, which then segues into its regular Monday slot the following night.

Also on tap: a new season of Halt and Catch Fire, another period drama on the early PC boom; Humans, a drama starring Wiliiam Hurt that features robot servants known as "synths"; and Badlands, a drama infused with martial arts.

Hell on Wheels returns for its own final this year, and Making of the Mob: New York, an eight-episode miniseries, will surface by June. AMC also is co-producing with BBC The Night Manager, based on John LeCarre's novel. The miniseries will star Hugh Laurie and Tom Hiddleston and begins filming this spring.
