Golden Globes ratings dip
NBC's Golden Globe Awards took a ratings dip Sunday, averaging 19.3 million viewers, according to adjusted Nielsen figures.
That's down 8% from last year's 20.9 million, and a bit less than the 19.7 million earned by the show in 2013. The audience for telecast, hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler for the third (and last) time, fell 11% among the young-adult audience NBC targets, and peaked in its first half-hour, declining throughout its three-hour run.
But ratings topped the show's averages for the five previous years, from 2008 to 2012, and was the top-rated awards show since the Oscars, though the Feb. 8 Grammy Awards are likely to supplant it.
The Globes also was easily the most popular TV show on Twitter last week, with 1.9 million tweets reaching a unique audience of 10.4 million users, Nielsen says.
