Sunday TV: 'Librarians,' 'Grantchester'

The Librarians

TNT, Sunday, 9 ET/PT

This TNT series version of the Librarian movies reaches its season finale with Baird moving through alternative timelines that offer different destinies for the team. Apparently, though, none of them work out well for her, which is something she'll want to change.

Grantchester
PBS, Sunday, 10 ET/PT (times may vary)

Not content with one Masterpiece at a time, PBS now gives you two, as it teams the ongoing Downton Abbey with this six-part, British-cozy mystery series based on the books by James Runcie. James Norton stars as Sidney, a small-town, post-war England clergyman with an often amusingly disapproving housekeeper who is asked to investigate the supposed suicide of one of his parishioners. ("The human heart, that's your responsibility, isn't it? You can ask any question of anyone, no matter how private.") At first, his meddling annoys the local cop (Robson Green), but they quickly bond and team up. The mystery isn't much — whenever you race ahead of Sidney, just enjoy the scenery until he catches up — but Norton and Green are an incredibly appealing team and together, they make Grantchester a charming, completely undemanding way to spend a Sunday hour.

Scorpion
CBS, Sunday, 10 ET/7 PT

CBS is giving the prime spot after Sunday's AFC Championship Game to this first year caper/adventure. And yes, you should read that as indication of intense network investment.
