TV tonight: 'Jane,' 'Kill Team,' 'Nightly Show'

Jane the Virgin
CW, 9 ET/PT
Fall's best new broadcast series returns with an episode that allows the show and its viewers to pause and catch their breaths after the show's last, breakneck outing. Nature intervenes tonight, as Jane and most of the other characters are trapped in the hotel by a hurricane while Xo and Rogelio wait at the hospital by Alba's side. By the end of the hour, secrets are revealed, conflicts are foreshadowed, and a few very funny voiceover jokes are made. (Jane is one of the only shows where the voiceover adds to, rather than detracts from, the fun). This is a great show with a great cast, proof that there's incredible talent out there in communities that have, for too long, been ignored. All Hollywood has to do is take the trouble to look – and be honestly willing to find.
The Kill Team
PBS, 10 ET/PT (times may vary)
Independent Lens offers this film about an American infantryman who risked his life to alert the military to war crimes committed by his platoon in Afghanistan. It's paired with the animated Confusion Through Sand.
The Nightly Show With Larry Wilmore
Comedy, 11:30 ET/PT
The Daily Show performer and Black-ish producer launches his own nightly show. Wilmore promises a blend of Daily and Politically Incorrect, which would be a pretty heady brew.
