'Dancing with the Stars' starts with surprise

The 10th anniversary season of Dancing With the Stars kicked off Monday night with a surprise: Some of the celebs can actually dance!

Starting with Rumer Willis, who is at the top of the leader board after the first night of competition.

Here are highlights and scores from judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman, Julianne Hough and Bruno Tonioli:

Bruce Willis was in the house to watch daughter Rumer. And so was mom Demi Moore. "This is so important to me," said Rumer. Her foxtrot with Val Chmerkovskiy was filled with drama and grace. "You are in it to win it!" shouted Carrie Ann. Scores: 8, 8, 8, 8 = 32

Ryker Lynch. Who? He's from the band R5. What did we learn about him? "Like I sweat. A lot." His jive with Allison Holker was surprisingly fun and easy. Judge Bruno Tonioli was up on the judge's table, raving. Note: Riker is second cousins with Derek and Julianne Hough. Scores: 8, 7, 8, 8 = 31

Olympic gymnast says she's Nastia Liukin a "competitive" person - uh, really?! - and she's partnered with Derek Hough. So, look out. Their foxtrot to New York, New York was shown in black and white at first and then switched to color for a slightly more uptempo version that ended in an amazing flip. Julianne thought it was "the most explosive" first dance ever. Scores: 7, 7, 8, 8 = 30

Robert Herjavec of Shark Tank fame is having a blast with pro partner Kym Johnson. It's obvious with their chemistry. "If we win, this is yours," he told her as he revved a white Ferrari. Their cha cha was wildly energetic. Scores: 7, 7, 7, 7 = 28

Michael Sam says the average football play takes about six seconds, but a dance? 90 seconds. "I'm trying to prove to haters, to myself, hey, I can do this." His cha cha to Uptown Funk was funky. And his high-waisted tight pants showed off his curves. "That butt is a work of art!" said Bruno Tonioli. "You could win rear of the year," said Len Goodman. Btu they dissed his footwork and the crowd booed. Scores: 6, 6, 7, 7 = 26

Chris Soules doesn't have to think much. "I'm engaged to a Whitney and now I'm dancing with a Witney." His jive with last season's champ, Witney Carson, was fast and high-energy. He hammed it up far more than he ever did on The Bachelor, dancing to Footloose. "Your feet were a little loose," said Julianne Hough. "But it was so much fun." The judges all think he has great potential. His new fiancee Whitney Bischoff cheered him in the audience, where she sat next to Bachelor host Chris Harrison. Scores: 7, 6, 6, 7 = 26

Noah Galloway told pro partner Sharna Burgess: "What I'm lacking in limbs, I'll make up in determination and hard work." Because he's missing one leg, including his knee, and one arm, he's got some particular challenges. But their cha cha was sexy and sweet. The audience gave him a long standing ovation. "It was profound," said Carrie Ann. Scores: 7, 6, 6, 7 = 26

Hey! Jeff Goldblum was in the house.

Suzanne Somers and Tony Dovolani did a throwback cha cha in sparkley 80s-style workout outfits. She had one wrong-foot misstep but the judges were positive. "You are in lovely condition," said Len. Scores: 6, 6, 6, 7 = 25

Willow Shields, the youngest competitor ever, danced a cha cha with Mark Ballas. It wasn't terrible and her Hunger Games fans will probably propel her onward. "I think you're going to go far, my dear," said Carrie Ann. Scores: 6, 6, 6, 7 = 25

Patti LaBelle can sing. But she has never danced in her life. "One minute had me breathing like a horse," she said. Her partner Artem Chigvintev did a great job of gliding her around the ballroom in a very elegant foxtrot. "You are a joyful, graceful goddess," said Julianne. Scores: 7, 6, 6, 6, = 25

Charlotte McKinney, the Carl's Jr. burger ad model, focused on her chest, but needed to focus more on her dance steps. "Worst case scenario we can just put tape on you," said her partner Keo Motsepe. "I just hope the costume department is ready for the jive," she said. Her long legs are a model's dream, but she she flubbed some steps. "Well done," said Len. Scores: 6, 5, 5, 6 = 22

Redfoo is musical, but he was stiff on the dance floor. His cha cha with partner Emma Slater was lackluster. Scores: 6, 5, 5, 6 = 22
