'Daredevil' casts 'TWD' star as The Punisher

Jon Bernthal will go from fighting zombies to superheroes and villains.
The actor, who appeared on the first two seasons of The Walking Dead, has been cast as Frank Castle, aka the Punisher, in the upcoming second season of Marvel's Daredevil on Netflix.
The Punisher is a vigilante who aims to clean up New York's Hell's Kitchen, just like Daredevil hero Matt Murdock, but he's willing to use any means necessary to do it, no matter how lethal.
"Jon Bernthal brings an unmatched intensity to every role he takes on, with a potent blend of power, motivation and vulnerability that will connect with audiences," said Jeph Loeb, Marvel's head of television, in a statement on Marvel.com. "Castle's appearance will bring dramatic changes to the world of Matt Murdock and nothing will be the same."
Bernthal is best known for his role as former sherriff's deputy Shane in Dead, but he's also appeared in The Wolf of Wall Street, Fury and will be in this summer's Me and Earl and the Dying Girl.
Daredevil got a surprise second season order from Netflix after its debut in April. The new season of the show will stream on the site on April 10, 2016.
