GLAAD: Fox earns 'excellent' LGBT diversity rating
For the first time in GLAAD's nine-year diversity study, the LGBT media advocacy organization has given a broadcast network an "excellent" rating in its Network Responsibility Index.
Fox, a network that was given a "failing" rating in the report's first two years, featured the highest percentage of LGBT-inclusive original programming hours in the GLAAD study's history, thanks to representation on shows including Empire, Glee, So You Think You Can Dance, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Bones. It was also the second-most racially diverse representation of LGBT characters on a broadcast station, according to GLAAD.
Here's how the other broadcast and cable networks stacked up in GLAAD's final NRI:
- ABC Family earned its third "excellent" rating
- ABC, CW, FX, HBO, MTV, Showtime earn ed "good" grades
- CBS, NBC, TLC, TNT, USA were deemed "adequate"
- A&E, history were given "failing" grades
