Watch: Obama eats bear leftovers on 'Running Wild'

While filming his much-anticipated episode of Running Wild with Bear Grylls, President Barack Obama shares a piece of salmon with another kind of bear.
TODAY shared an exclusive clip from Obama's upcoming appearance on the NBC reality adventure show, where the president trekked through the Alaskan wilderness with Grylls to highlight the effects of climate change in that area.
"I've seen some of the stuff Bear eats, and it's gotta be something that doesn't still have its legs and eyes on it," Obama says in the clip. "I want it not to be too recognizable."
In the video, Grylls shows the president what they'll be eating for lunch: a piece of salmon that the host found on a riverbed, half-eaten by a bear.
Obama called the salmon "tasty" after the duo cooked it over a fire, though "it would have been nice if we had a cracker to go with it."
"Bear's a mediocre cook," the president joked. "But the fact that we ate something recognizable was encouraging."
"Now the fact that he told me that this was a leftover fish from a bear? I don't know if that was necessary—he could've just left that out."
The episode was taped last week during Obama’s scheduled hike to Exit Glacier in Seward, Alaska.
“The President has seen the show before,” White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest told reporters aboard Air Force one en route to Alaska. “I will not deny your suspicion that there may have been some suggestions put forward by the Bear Grylls team that were not approved by the Secret Service."
