Kim Zolciak recovering from 'mini-stroke'
Kim Zolciak of Real Housewives of Atlanta says she was felled by a "mini-stroke" after getting off a cross-country flight on Wednesday.
Zolciak, 37, posted the news and two pictures of herself in a hospital gown on her Instagram page. She said it happened when she returned to Atlanta from Los Angeles where she appeared on Dancing With the Stars.
"I got home and within minutes suffered a TIA (mini stroke) the left side of my body went completely numb and my speech was gone," she wrote.
But all is well now, she added:
"I have 100%of my feeling back THANK GOD. Still in the hospital but I just know I'm getting released today!"
A TIA is a transient ischemic attack, or mini-stroke. It's what happens when blood flow to part of the brain is blocked or reduced, by a blood clot, for instance, according to WebMD. In a major stroke, the blockage remains and the brain can be damaged. In a TIA, the blood starts flowing again and the symptoms go away.
The reality star and singer, whose full name is Kim Zolciak-Biermann, started out on RHOA, then left and eventually got her own reality spin off show, Don't Be Tardy. The mother of six children, she married Atlanta Falcons player Kroy Biermann in 2011, an event that was televised.
