'Walking Dead' tops cable, down from 2014
The Walking Dead topped last week's cable ratings chart with 14.6 million viewers for Sunday's Season 6 premiere, but it was down from 2014's record fall opener (17.3 million).
For the week, the top-rated AMC drama topped all cable shows, including NFL games and baseball playoffs, in viewers and dominated among advertiser-coveted young adults. Talking Dead, the chat show that analyzes each episode, averaged 5.7 million viewers, down from the 6.9 million for last fall's premiere. With that strong showing, it trailed only FX's American Horror Story: Hotel among non-sports cable programs in both categories.
As with many shows, Walking Dead, which was up against NBC's Sunday Night Football, is likely to add substantially to its totals in delayed viewing.
