Naomi Watts to star in Netflix thriller

Naomi Watts is headed to Netflix.

The actress, now in theaters with Demolition, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, will play a therapist in Gypsy, a 10-episode psychological thriller announced by the streaming service Monday.

In the hourlong series, due in 2017, Watts will star as Jean Holloway, "a therapist who begins to develop dangerous and intimate relationships with the people in her patients' lives," Netflix says.

Lisa Rubin, in her first credit, will write the series and serve as executive producer with Liza Chasin (The Danish Girl). NBC's Universal Television, which also produces Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt for Netflix, is the studio.
