'Grinder,' 'Grandfathered' are canceled at Fox
Two high-profile Fox comedies, The Grinder and Grandfathered, are getting the hook after their freshman seasons.
The network has announced series pickups this week as it prepares a 2016-17 schedule that it will present next week to advertisers in New York.
In expected news, two other first-season comedies, Cooper Barrett's Guide to Surviving Life and the animated Bordertown, also are being canceled.
The Grinder, which features Rob Lowe and Fred Savage, and Grandfathered, which stars John Stamos, both started off with big names and positive reviews but neither made much of a dent in TV ratings.
There had been much speculation that Fox would renew one of the Tuesday comedies but, in the end, neither will move forward.
