Amazon casts Dwight Yoakam in 'Goliath'

Country singer Dwight Yoakam is putting his acting hat back on.

The part-time actor, who's appeared in Under the Dome and the films Sling Blade and Panic Room, has signed on for Amazon Studios' upcoming drama Goliath.

In fact, he'll play the head of an aerospace company in the legal drama alongside his old Sling Blade co-star Billy Bob Thornton. The Fargo star's character, Billy McBride, is a down-on-his-luck trial lawyer seeking redemption by battling the rich and powerful.

Goliath, which refers to McBride's courtroom adversaries, is the latest legal drama from David E. Kelley and will co-star William Hurt (Broadcast News), Molly Parker (House of Cards), Maria Bello (A History of Violence), Olivia Thirlby (Juno) and Jonathan Shapiro (The Practice).

The show is set to debut this fall.
