BEVERLY HILLS — NBC has tapped its own Tonight Show star Jimmy Fallon as the host of next year's Golden Globe Awards.
It will be Fallon's first time hosting the event, which in recent years has been led by Ricky Gervais and the duo of Amy Poehler and Tina Fey.
The 74th annual ceremony, from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, will air live Jan. 8.
"It'll be fun, it'll be clever, it'll be fast," predicts NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt at the Television Critics Association press tour. "Will it be satirical and biting? I don't think so, but I don't want to speak for anyone."
Fallon hosted NBC's telecast of the Emmy Awards in 2010.
