'American Horror Story' to haunt Universal theme parks

Prepare to be horrified, Halloween fans.

American Horror Story is arriving at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort and opening as the newest "Halloween Horror Nights" attraction on Sept. 16.

Three editions of the gruesome FX thriller series from Ryan Murphy will be featured in mazes at the Halloween attraction at the California and Florida theme parks.

Fans can experience being residents of the Murder House from AHS Season 1, get up close to the terrifying performers in the Freak Show from Season 4 and see victims succumbing to the twisted desires of The Countess (played by Lady Gaga on the series) at the Hotel from Season 5. Evil spirits and Twisty the Clown will be among the figures on hand for Halloween mayhem at the attraction.

American Horror Story is one of the most disturbing television shows ever produced, and with such perverse storylines unfolding with each installment, 'Halloween Horror Nights' is undoubtedly the only place that could create a living version of the nightmares that Ryan Murphy dreams up,” John Murdy, creative director at Universal Studios Hollywood and executive producer of “Halloween Horror Nights,” said in a statement. “Plus, as a fan favorite, American Horror Story has been the No. 1 requested maze from our guests and we’re excited to let them know that we listened to them and are bringing American Horror Story to life.”

"We can’t wait for our guests to experience some of the horror they’ve seen on the show," said Michael Aiello, director of creative development for Universal Orlando Resort.

Since its debut in 2011, American Horror Story has won 13 Emmys. The sixth installment, shrouded in mystery, premieres on FX on Sept. 14 (10 ET/PT).
