Alexis Bledel joins Hulu's 'Handmaid's Tale'

Rory Gilmore has a new assignment. 

Hulu announced Thursday that Alexis Bledel has joined the cast of the upcoming Handmaid's Tale, a series based on the acclaimed novel by Margaret Atwood. The Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life actress will have a recurring role in the dystopian show as Ofglen, companion to protagonist Offred (Elisabeth Moss). The 10-episode series will also feature Orange is the New Black star Samira Wiley. 

The show will take place in the dystopian society of Gilead, a totalitarian society that was formerly the United States, where women are the property of the state. It's set to premiere April 26 on the streaming service.
