CW's 'iZombie' offers more brain comfort food

PASADENA, Calif. — Rose McIver isn't just the star of CW's iZombie — she's a different star every week.

On the series, which returns to CW April 4, Liv is a zombie who survives by eating the brains of murder victims. The twist is that those brains help her solve murders by infecting her with part of the victims' personality. Which means each week, McIver becomes the brain she eats.

Most of the time, she told television critics Sunday, she enjoys the transformations. She loved  "the hot-mess brain," she says, and "dominatrix brain was pretty fun." And then there's her favorite brain ever, the "Dungeons and Dragons brain."

Still, there is a downside: "I'm genuinely terrified knowing there are brains I might not have a clue as to how to perform." To quell her fears, this year the writers gave her a list of 35 potential brains, and allowed her to veto one.

Which one did she choose? "The cat lady brain. I'm a dog person...That was the one where I was like, 'absolutely not.'"
