Amy Poehler, Nick Offerman get crafty for NBC competition series
Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman are getting creative. The comedians, who co-starred in NBC's Parks and Recreation, are reuniting for the network's competition series, The Handmade Project, which will showcase contestants' skills at making things with their hands and tools.
The six-episode series, which they'll host, is the first reality series produced by Poehler's Paper Kite Productions.
“I’m thrilled to be celebrating artists who make things by hand, and I’m looking forward to finally conquering my fear of papier mâché,” Poehler said in a statement.
Adds Offerman, a well-known crafts lover: “People who make things are my favorite kind of folk. Practical, clever and terrific in a pinch. That makes me tickled pink to have a front-row seat at this prodigious display of talent, and admiring and cheering on an amazing crop of American makers. Plus, Amy and I have a strong tradition of tomfoolery, so let’s see if we don’t have some good fun.”
Poehler is a self-described amateur crafter who has long harbored a secret appreciation for those with handmaking talent. Offerman is a best-selling author on woodworking and owner of Offerman Woodshop in Los Angeles.
Handmade will bring together eight contestants each week, tasked with projects and impressing Poehler, Offerman and other expert judges. In each episode, contestants will work with a different theme, hand-making items in different disciplines, from woodwork, quilting, knitting, scrapbooking and cake decorating to doll making .

A premiere date has yet to be announced.
