'American Horror Story' reveals details of new 'Cult' season
American Horror Story executive producer Ryan Murphy gave fans plenty of details about Season 7 Thursday — and likely left them wanting more.
In a series of tweets coinciding with a waterfront event at San Diego Comic-Con late Thursday, Murphy revealed the title of the 11-episode, election-themed season — American Horror Story: Cult — along with big casting news.
Cult will feature several returning members of the AHS ensemble: Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Frances Conroy and Mare Winningham. He said other AHS veterans would be back, too.
Paulson will play a character named Ally and Peters will portray a character named Kai, Murphy revealed in a series of reply tweets to fan questions. He said Cult will be set in Michigan, and evidently involves a bunch of scary clowns.
In a separate release, FX announced the premiere date of the popular anthology series: Sept. 5, 10 ET/PT.
Murphy Wednesday tweeted the casting of Girls' Lena Dunham, who will appear in one episode. Other newcomers include Billy Eichner and Billie Lourd, who starred in another Murphy series, Fox's Scream Queens.
Before announcing the season's name, Murphy teased Twitter followers with jokey non-titles, including Colony, Hive and Ann Coulter.
