Chris Pine, 'Wonder Woman' director Patty Jenkins reteam for TNT drama
BEVERLY HILLS — Chris Pine will star and his Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins will direct the premiere of a six-episode series for TNT, the network will announce Thursday at the Television Critics Association.
One Day She'll Darken, based on the autobiography of Fauna Hodel, marks the latest effort to rebrand the channel as a home for prestige drama under president Kevin Reilly.
Jenkins will "potentially" direct additional episodes, the network says.
The series tells the story of Hodel, who was given away by her teenage birth mother to a black restroom attendant in a Nevada casino in 1949. As she investigates her past, she follows a trail that involves Hollywood gynecologist George Hodel, who was involved in the 1947 "Black Dahlia" murder of Elizabeth Short in Los Angeles.
Pine will play Jay Singletary, "a former Marine-turned-hack reporter/paparazzo. Jay was disgraced over his story about Hodel years ago" who "sees a glimmer of redemption," TNT says.
No airdate has been set.
In other TNT news, Animal Kingdom has been renewed for a third season, while TBS comedy Angie Tribeca will be back for a fourth.
