'American Horror Story: Cult' edits shooting scene after Las Vegas gun murders

American Horror Story: Cult is making substantial cuts to a scene that hits too close to home after last week's mass shooting in Las Vegas claimed 58 lives and injured more than 500.
FX Monday announced that the opening scene in Tuesday's episode of Ryan Murphy's anthology series (10 ET/PT), which portrays a mass shooting, is being edited for broadcast. The original version, filmed two months ago, will be available on video on demand (VOD) and on streaming platforms FXNOW and FX+.
In a statement the cable network said: "In light of the tragedy last week in Las Vegas, Ryan Murphy and the producers of American Horror Story: Cult have chosen to make substantial edits to the opening scene of tomorrow night’s episode … This opening, which was filmed two months ago and which portrays an occurrence of gun violence that has sadly become all too common in our country, contains a sequence that some viewers might find traumatic."

According to US Weekly, Murphy confirmed the scene cuts Saturday at The New Yorker Festival, saying the mass shooting was included to make "an obvious anti-gun warning about society."
E! News quoted Murphy saying: “Should you air it? Should you not air it? How do you be sensitive? My point of view was I believe I have the right to air it, but I also believe in victims’ rights, and I believe that now is probably not the week to have something explosive or incendiary in the culture because someone who was affected might watch that and it could trigger something or make them feel upset,”
The current AHS season is set in present-day Michigan in the aftermath of the 2016 presidential election.
