Sunday TV: 'Oprah's Master Class,' 'Simpsons'
Oprah's Master Class
OWN, 8 ET/PT
OWN follows last week's Belief special with the regular season premiere of Master Class, a combination biography, interview and mentoring session built around famous entertainers. Up first: Ellen DeGeneres.
The Simpsons
Fox, 8 ET/PT
If there's one thing TV loves, it's a holiday tradition. And if there's one thing fans of The Simpsons love, it's the annual Halloween-themed Treehouse of Horror trilogy, returning for its 26th installment. Were that not reason enough for joy, this Treehouse returns with one of the show's greatest villains in tow, Sideshow Bob — voiced, as always, by Kelsey Grammer. Happily for Bob, this special allows him to finally kill Bart, and multiple times at that. Unhappily for Bob, things seldom end happily for Bob, which is something longtime viewers know. While that's the best segment, there's also amusement to be had from a Godzilla that takeoff that simultaneously spoofs cheap Japanese horror films and bloated Hollywood blockbusters.
The Guilty
PBS, 10 ET/PT (times may vary)
PBS offers the American premiere of this three-part 2013 British crime story built around the disappearance of a four-year-old boy. The series, which uses dual timelines to tell its story, received a mixed critical reception in Britain, but for fans of Showtime's terrific comedy Episodes, Guilty offers a special draw: star Tamsin Greig in a dramatic turn as the lead detective.
