TCM Mother’s Day Salute

TCM embraces the holiday with a string of maternal movies, starting with Please Don’t Eat the Daisies (noon ET/9 a.m. PT), a very loose adaptation of the book by the late, great and insufficiently read Jean Kerr. That's followed by Imitation of Life (2 ET/11 PT), Mildred Pierce (4 ET/1 PT), Light in the Piazza (6 ET/3 PT), Sounder (8 ET/5 PT) and I Remember Mama (10 ET/7 PT).  As for those who remember mama less fondly, there’s also Mommie Dearest on IFC (9 ET/PT) and Psycho on SundanceTV (9 ET/PT).

Madam Secretary
CBS, 8 ET/PT

All three of CBS's Sunday dramas end their seasons tonight, starting with Madam Secretary, and followed by the leaving-us-for-good The Good Wife (9 ET/PT) and Elementary (10 ET/PT). And all find their characters facing crises — none more so than Secretary’s Elizabeth, who discovers that the president is thinking about replacing her. Considering that Madam (like Elementary) has been renewed, odds are good the president will eventually change his mind.

Wallander
PBS, 9 ET/PT

This British-accented adaptation of a Swedish story — one of Masterpiece's less-enticing offerings — enters its last season with age catching up to the detective. Kenneth Branagh once again plays Inspector Wallander, whose opening case finds him in South Africa, hunting for a missing Swedish woman.
