Weekend TV: The 90s nostalgia is real on Netflix's 'Everything Sucks!'

Everything Sucks!
Netflix, Friday

Travel back to 1996 in Netflix's newest teen comedy, which has a Freaks and Geeks vibe and a hefty dose of Millennial nostalgia. The sitcom follows a trio of freshman boys trying to make their way in high school, along with sophomore Kate (Peyton Kennedy), who's questioning her sexuality and finds her school life overshadowed by her father (Patch Darragh), who is the principal. The series is enjoyable enough, but relies a little too heavily on its '90s setting for jokes, with relentless references to era-appropriate pop culture.

NBA All-Star Game
TNT and TBS, Sunday, 8 ET/5 PT

The Cleveland Cavaliers’ LeBron James and the Golden State Warriors’ Steph Curry have drafted their teams, and the stage is set for an epic battle between the best players in the NBA. This year's All-Star Game is the first to ditch the traditional Eastern vs. Western Conference format, allowing James and Curry to pick teams from a wider pool of players.

The Chi
Showtime, Sunday, 10 ET/PT

The dark drama has noticeably picked up the pace since Kevin (Alex Hibbert) and Brandon's (Jason Mitchell) confrontation with Ronnie (Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine) turned violent in Episode 4. The characters are still reeling, and Brandon's erratic behavior puts his relationship with Jerrika (Tiffany Boone) in jeopardy.
