Weekend TV: 'The Tick' returns for second half of Season 1
The Tick
Amazon, Friday
Peter Serafinowicz's delightfully goofy superhero is back with six new episodes of Amazon's comic-book spoof. The new batch features more action and a lot more of Jackie Earle Haley's hammy villain The Terror, as The Tick (Serafinowicz) and Arthur (Griffin Newman) try to reunite the old superteam to fight him.

The Walking Dead
AMC, Sunday, 9 ET/PT
Rick (Andrew Lincoln), Michonne (Danai Gurira) and the rest are back for the zombie juggernaut's midseason premiere, and things don't look good for our heroes. In December's finale, Negan's (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) forces burned down Alexandria and captured Ezekiel (Khary Payton), and Carl (Chandler Riggs) revealed a fatal walker bite to his father. In tonight's return, Rick grapples with big decisions as the war wages on at the Kingdom and the Hilltop.
A.P. Bio
NBC, Sunday, 10:30 ET/PT
After a pre-Olympics preview, this new sitcom returns on a special night and improves on the rushed pilot. The series, about a reluctant teacher, gets a huge assist from guest star Niecy Nash, who plays a union rep sent to help Jack (Glenn Howerton) after he leaves his class unattended and a student is injured. Nash's big brash presence is a great fit, and she's especially funny opposite Patton Oswalt as Principal Durbin, who's terrified of her character.
