'American Idol' results: Entering a new era
And, so, a new era begins.
American Idol entered its post-white-guy period Thursday, as Tennessee country-pop singer Paul Jolley went home.
That leaves just three guys in the remaining group of finalists -- Lazaro Arbos, easily safe despite the week's worst performance, as well as Devin Velez and Burnell Taylor. And Velez made his second trip to the bottom group of vote-getters in as many weeks, suggesting that his days are numbered.
Of the five women, only one made the bottom three -- Amber Holcomb, whom record executive and mentor Jimmy Iovine placed in his personal top three.
So after five seasons with white, male winners -- David Cook, Kris Allen, Lee DeWyze, Scotty McCreery and Phillip Phillips -- this year's champ will have a new look.
From early indications, it'll be a woman, too -- who do you think is the leading contender?
