Zoe Saldana salutes her 'Hero' on AOL series

Zoe Saldana tugs at the heartstrings in the new AOL series, My Hero. Saldana executive produced the 10 episodes, which follow celebrities as they surprise one person from their pasts who helped change their lives.

"We are surrounded by heroes every day and I think it's important to shed light on them, and to say thank you," Saldana said. "I really find it hard to believe that there are people who succeed in life in whatever it is they want to do in ... on their own."

Soon-to-be mom Saldana pays a surprise visit to her mother in the first episode, online Friday..

The Avatar actress and husband Marco Perego are expecting twins. So how does the actress, producer and soon-to-be mother find time to do so much?

"I don't know!" she said. "Well, my sisters and I are producing partners so we hold each other's fort when the other is on maternity leave or having a life."

Saldana most recently appeared as Gamora in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy.

Julianne Hough, Maria Menounos, Michelle Monaghan, Mary Lambert and more will salute their heroes in future episodes of the series. New ones air every Friday on AOL.
