Giving isn't just about money - give your time too

The holidays are the perfect time to give back, says Jeff Corwin, host of TV's Ocean Mysteries with Jeff Corwin from Georgia Aquarium. He notes: "You can donate money to any number of wildlife conservation organizations; all non-profits need financial contributions to stay afloat. But it's not always about cutting a big check." Your time and expertise also are needed. Some ideas:

Restore habitat. Find a group in your area whose focus is to restore local wildlife or regional habitat.

Clean up trails. Volunteer your time by organizingor participating in a local parks or nature trails cleanup, or at a wildlife sanctuary.

Special skills. Don't forget your own expertise: accounting, public relations, fundraising.
