Holy cow! Man accused of stealing more than $75,000 in tenderloins

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky – An employee at a local grocery store chain is accused of stealing hundreds of beef tenderloins totaling at least $75,000. 

Over an eight-month period, Billy Wethington took the tender cuts of beef from Paul's Fruit Market, Louisville Metro Police officers wrote in his arrest citation. 

Wethington would stuff eight to 10 tenderloins into a black garbage bag and take them to his car, the citation details. He admitted to police he took the tenderloins, and the theft was captured on video, according to his arrest slip.

Paul's Fruit Market is still calculating just how much beef was taken, noting that losses could be more than $75,000. 

Wethington, 42, was charged Friday with theft by unlawful taking over $10,000.

He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Saturday and was appointed a public defender.
