Hurricane Dorian store closings, reopenings: Are Target, Walmart, Kroger or Publix open?

Retailers are watching Hurricane Dorian's forecast and announcing store closures or reopenings.

The historic storm swept past Florida on Wednesday on a collision course with the Carolinas, claiming its first life in the U.S. and promising heavy rains, powerful winds and damaging surge.

Dorian had technically diminished to Category 2 but actually had grown in size following its devastating sweep through the Bahamas. Dorian was about 100 miles northeast of Daytona Beach early Wednesday driving 105 mph winds, the National Hurricane Center said.

One of the easiest ways to find out if grocery chains and major retailers are closed or have reopened is to check online. Retailers are posting regular updates with openings and modified hours. Some will also post on social media.
