55,000 pounds of frozen breakfast burritos recalled due to plastic contamination
More than 27 tons of frozen burritos are bring recalled due to possible plastic contamination.
Ruiz Food Products is recalling approximately 55,013 pounds of frozen breakfast burrito products that may be contaminated with pieces of plastic, the Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service said.
The frozen, not ready-to-eat breakfast burrito products were produced on Oct. 15. The product under recall is a 3.38-lb. Value Pack, containing 12 individually wrapped El Monterey signature burrito with egg, sausage and cheese.
The products have a best-if-used-by date of Jan. 15, 2021, and a lot code of 19288.
These items were shipped to retail locations nationwide.

Three consumer complaints have been received involving pieces of white, semi-rigid plastic found in the product. There have been no confirmed reports of injuries due to consumption of these products, the FSIS said.
FSIS is concerned that some product may be in consumers’ freezers, these products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
