Walgreens returns to regular store hours; California locations will resume starting May 18

Most Walgreens stores nationwide will resume standard operating hours, according to a statement by the company

Certain stores will continue operating under the adjusted hours implemented in March due to the COVID-19 outbreak. These include locations in tourist regions, downtown city centers, or markets with government-mandated curfews.

California stores will resume standard operating hours beginning May 18 due to local regulations.

Walgreens will continue practicing cleaning regimens and social distancing protocols in its stores. Employees will also continue to use plexiglass shields and face covers, and locations will provide wipes at the front of stores to clean shopping carts and baskets.

Last week, Walgreens announced it was opening free drive-thru nasal-swab testing sites in 49 states and Puerto Rico. Patients must make an appointment online and meet CDC criteria.

The company also announced customers can order online in advance, pay and pick up items in one of its 7,300 participating locations using the drive-thru service.

This comes as others retail giants, such as Costco, have also returned to regular operating hours. Customers and employees alike will be required to wear face coverings or masks.
