From Microsoft to PepsiCo, employees say these companies have the best leadership teams

It's no secret that some workplace leaders outperform others. In 2020, the higher-ups at Microsoft, Zoom and Google seem to do it best.
That's according to the latest survey findings from the culture and compensation platform Comparably. The workforce website asked employees to rate company leadership over a 12-month period through June and published its annual "Best Leadership Teams" list on Wednesday.
The top bosses had a few traits in common. They practiced transparency, empathy and open-mindedness, Comparably found. Employees also gave the best workplace leaders high marks for being "visionary" and "mission-driven."
With the coronavirus crisis upending businesses, pushing more people to work remotely as others face layoffs, employees value leaders with a plan, said Jason Nazar, CEO of Comparably.

"So many folks are still uncertain about what's going on with the pandemic, what's going on with the world and what's going on with social change. What people don't want is more uncertainty in their professional life," Nazar said.

While bosses at Microsoft, Zoom and Google were rated the best overall, minority employees chose a different set of top leadership teams. People of color ranked Zoom as No. 1, while the IT company Insight Global was second and Vector Marketing took the third-place spot.
People of color often have different experiences in the workplace, and tend to value diverse managerial teams, Nazar said.
The overall rankings were divided into top teams from large companies with more than 500 employees and smaller companies with fewer than 500 staffers. Comparably published the full lists featuring 100 companies on its website.
