Kohl's has temporarily stopped accepting Amazon returns at some stores, the company confirmed to Paste BN Wednesday.

The company said in a statement that it is "conducting a test" in certain stores that are dropping the service.

Retal trade outlet "Modern Retail" reported that locations that have stopped accepting returns include: Leominster, Massachusetts, Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and Washington, Missouri,

An employee posted on the Kohl's employee subreddit that the test was announced to at least one participating store internally one month ago and started Monday. The move was largely greeted with praise by associates on the forum.

The Kohl's website has not been updated to reflect the change as of Wednesday evening.

"Kohl's has a test and learn culture that helps us to evolve our store experience and stay informed about customers expectations and preferences," the retailer said in a statement.

Kohl's began accepting Amazon returns at stores across the chain in 2019.

Retailer set to cut stores, jobs

The end of the service comes as Kohl's plans to close 27 of its underperforming stores by April and cut 10% of its corporate workforce.

The Washington Post reported last year that the returns program slowed down store operations while not adding sales.

The Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin-based company's sales declined 9.4% in the fourth quarter of 2024 and 7.2% for the year. Kohl's also said that it expects a 2% net decrease in sales for 2025, reported the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, part of the Paste BN Network.
