Are banks, post offices, UPS and FedEx open on Easter 2025? Here's what to know
Easter is quickly approaching and while most grocery store and fast food chains will be open on the holiday, that might not be the case for banks and post offices.
The holiday, which falls on Sunday, April 20 this year, is an important one for the millions of people around the world who follow the Christian faith. Easter celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ and follows a 40-day period known as Lent.
The date Easter is celebrated changes every year because it is one of several "moveable feasts" in the liturgical year, according to the History Channel. Others include Ash Wednesday and Palm Sunday.
If you're looking to execute a banking transaction or mail a package the week of Easter, you may want to do it before Sunday, as most banks, post offices and shipping services will be closed on the holiday. Here's what you need to know.
Is the post office open on Easter? Will mail be delivered?
United States Postal Service operations will proceed as normal on Good Friday, April 18, and Easter Sunday, April 20, the USPS confirmed in an emailed statement to Paste BN.
Since USPS facilities are closed for retail transactions and residential and business mail deliveries do not occur on Sundays, mail will not be delivered. However, Priority Mail Express is delivered 365 days a year, including on Sundays.
Are banks open on Easter?
Since Easter falls on a Sunday, banks that typically close on Sundays will also be closed on Easter Sunday.
Most branches of Bank of America, Wells Fargo, PNC, Truist, JPMorgan Chase, and CitiBank will be closed on April 20. Customers are encouraged to contact their local branch to confirm specific hours.
Capital One told Paste BN its branches and cafes will be operating at the normal scheduled hours on Good Friday and Easter. Customers can use the Capital One locator finder to find specific information for operating hours near them.
Is UPS open on Easter? Will packages be delivered?
UPS pickup and delivery services will not be available on Easter. UPS Store locations may be closed, according the company's website.
Check with your local store for specific hours of operation.

Is FedEx open on Easter? Will packages be delivered?
Most of FedEx's pickup and delivery services will not be available on Easter, according to the company's website. FedEx Office hours will also be modified, so it is best to check with your local store for their specific hours.
FedEx Custom Critical, however, is available 24/7, according to the company.
