Where are Rite Aid locations closing across the US? What to know amid bankruptcy

After announcing that it would be entering Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings, Rite Aid is now slated to begin a process of auctioning off most of its locations.
"As we move forward, our key priorities are ensuring uninterrupted pharmacy services for our customers and preserving jobs for as many associates as possible," Rite Aid CEO Matt Schroeder said.
Schroeder pointed to financial challenges that "intensified by the rapidly evolving retail and healthcare landscapes" led to the filing in U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey.
Although the process is underway, Rite Aid said that customers will still be able to access pharmacy services.
According to court records obtained by Paste BN, A&G Real Estate Partners said they anticipate auctions for Rite Aid locations to start around May.
A&G Real Estate Partners did not immediately respond to Paste BN’s request for comment on the locations set to be listed for auction on Wednesday, May 7.
Locations set to close in the first wave
Apart from the stores to be auctioned, Rite Aid laid out a list of locations it plans for a first wave of closures. According to the docket, the plan still needs to be approved. The list of locations spans nine states.
