Over 1,000 pounds of ground beef recalled after metal found in product

Ada Valley Meat Company is recalling more than 1,000 pounds of frozen ground beef after a consumer discovered pieces of metal in the food, according to a U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) notice.
"FSIS is concerned that some products may be in consumers’ refrigerators or freezers," the agency said in the July 29 warning. While there has been at least one complaint about the contamination, no injuries have been reported, FSIS said.
The 1,065 pounds of recalled ground beef were packaged on May 28 and 30 and distributed to five states, according to Ada Valley Meat and FSIS. Here's what to know.
Which products are recalled?
Recalled products include 20-pound cardboard box cases containing four 5-pound plastic bags of "Ada Valley fully cooked ground beef". The packages have a "pack date" of May 28, 2025 and lot code of 35156, or a "pack date" of May 30, 2025 and lot code 35157 on the outer label.
Impacted products have "EST. 10031" inside the USDA mark of inspection and were shipped to distributors and other establishments in California, Delaware, Illinois, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.
What to do if you have recalled meat
If you have a package of the recalled meat at home, FSIS advises throwing it away or returning it to the place of purchase.
