Nevada casinos rake in 8% less in June, $831 million

LAS VEGAS — Nevada regulators say the state’s casinos kept nearly $831 million of what was gambled in June but the amount was down about 8% compared to a year ago.

The Nevada Gaming Control Board reported that for the fiscal year through June 30 casino gambling revenue dropped 1.6%.

Gambling revenue on the Las Vegas Strip fell 16 percent to $445 million with the lucrative but volatile baccarat card game dropping by more than half compared to a year ago when it was a jackpot for the casinos.

South Lake Tahoe saw a 44% boost to nearly $18 million. Washoe County, including Reno, dropped slightly compared to a year ago.

The agency says the state collected 8% more in fees for the month for $48.7 million total.
