Brewers Association wants to buy Anheuser-Busch — they just need $213 billion

The Brewers Association, a not-for-profit organization representing small and independent brewers, announced a Take Craft Back campaign Monday.

The campaign, a crowdfunding event, wants to raise $213 billion to purchase Anheuser-Busch InBev. The attempt reads like sarcasm, and so does the video that shows a man walking through a small craft brewery while extolling the virtues of independent brewers and poking at A-B InBev for "acquiring small breweries across the country."

However, the Brewers Association is serious about drawing attention to independent craft breweries with the video.

"Independent craft brewers refuse to be muscled out by Big Beer," says Andy, the character in the video. Since 2011, Anheuser-Busch InBev has purchased 10 small independent breweries, the video says.

The crowdfunding campaign, featured at takecraftback.com, has raised more than $400,000. Pledges will not be collected until the entire amount is raised.
