Toyota recalls handful of Yaris subcompacts

Toyota is recalling a handful of 2012 Yaris subcompact cars because of a potential steering problem.

Toyota says that 74 of the cars could experience a short circuit in the electric power steering. That could kill the power assist and make the cars hard to steer.

Drivers should get a dashboard warning light and a buzzer alarm in the car if that happens.

Toyota says it'll notify owners by mail and dealers will replace the power steering control module for free.
