Tundra base price rises, but key models cut dramatically

Toyota bumped up the price of the bare-bones, 2014 Tundra full-size pickup $450, but cut some popular models as much as $2,000 and says the average price across the entire Tundra lineup is down $263 from 2013.

And, the 1794 Edition isn't a new, super-high-price model. Instead, its prices are identical to the Platinum model, allowing a buyer to choose between them according to trim preferences.

The 1794 Edition takes its name from the founding year of the San Antonio ranch where Toyota built the Tundra plant.

The heavily updated 2014 Tundra went into production at San Antonio earlier this month and should be at dealers later this month.

•SR: $26,915 for the base, regular cab, rear-wheel-drive (RWD) model with 4-liter V-6. to $33,730 for the extended cab (which Toyota calls double cab), four-wheel-drive (4x4) model with 5.7-liter V-8.
