Chrysler to show redone Dodge Charger, Challenger
Dodge will unveil updated versions its muscle-car tandem — the Charger sedan and Challenger coupe — next week at the New York Auto Show, Chrysler said on Monday as it released a couple of teaser photos.
The Charger and Challenger represent the Dodge image as a performance car brand, but neither car has been updated for several years, and their roots go back to the years of Daimler ownership of Chrysler.
In 2013, Charger sales increased 0.6% to 98,336, making it Dodge's second-best selling model behind the Grand Caravan. Challenger sales edged up 0.3% from 2012 to 51,462.
The 2015 Charger has been given "a full-body makeover with nearly every single body panel being resculpted."
The 2015 Challenger will be "new from the inside out for 2015," and features a new powertrain combination, Chrysler said in a statement, which noted that the 100th birthday of the original Dodge Brothers brand is this summer.
The company did not release additional details about either car. The unveiling for them will be April 17 in New York.
