Porsche to pop Cayenne plug-in hybrid SUV
Porsche is going to show the plug-in hybrid version of its Cayenne crossover at the Paris Motor Show. This will be its third plug-in model.
Cayenne will join the plug-in hybrid versions of the Panamera sedan and the 918 Spyder sports car. Porsche says it is impressed with sales of plug-ins. Some 9% of the 16,698 of the Panameras delivered during the first eight months worldwide were plug-ins.
In creating the plug-in, Porsche also enlarges a growing Cayenne family. The Cayenne S E-Hybrid, as the plug-in will be called, joins Cayenne S, Cayenne Turbo and Cayenne Diesel.
The electric and gas drive train of the E-Hybrid will produce a combined 416 horsepower. As a result, Cayenne S E-Hybrid will accelerate from zero 0 to 60 miles per hour in 5.4 seconds, Porsche says.
