Infiniti reveals its hybrid premium Q80 sedan
Even though Infiniti is already considered a luxury brand, it's calling the Q80 Inspiration hybrid concept that it's showing at the Paris Motor Show its "first foray into the premium sedan category."
We can see why. It's gorgeous.
Q80 is full size in length and width, Infiniti says, but lower than most cars its size, making it especially sleek. Remember, though, it's a concept and those kind of proportions aren't necessarily going to make it to a production vehicle.
Likewise, Q80 has rear-hinged rear doors — so-called suicide doors — in the rear and four individual seats, also questionable in a production vehicle of its size.
The engine, however, looks like the real deal. Q80 is powered by a 550-horsepower, downsized twin-turbocharged 3-liter V-6 coupled with batteries and electric motors. Infiniti says the engine is the precursor to a new family of engines on the way.
The car also has the ability to drive itself, to some extent, at the push of a button, though help is needed from the driver. The car prompts a driver, for instance, to decide whether to overtake another car in heavy traffic or fall in behind.
