Honda expands global Takata air bag recall
Honda has added another 170,000 cars to its Takata air bag recall, this time outside the U.S.
The recall comes after the report of a death that could be linked to the air bags in Malaysia, Bloomberg News reports.
Even though at least 10 automakers are involved with Takata air bag recalls in the U.S., Honda has been at the center because it is most dependent on the troubled supplier. Honda issued a statement late Wednesday clarifying that none of the inflators at the center of the latest recall are used in the U.S.
Takata air bags have been linked to at least two deaths in the U.S. because they can spew metal or plastic shards when the inflate in a crash.
