Just Cool Cars: Ford F-150 adorned with sugar skulls

LAS VEGAS — There's no shortage of customized Ford F-150 pickup trucks in this world, but not many are adorned with graphics of Mexican sugar skulls.
Angela Burgess of Montgomery, Ala., wanted to make a statement to raise awareness about breast cancer research. So she chose the folk-art symbol of Mexico's Day of the Dead, the sugar skull, when it came to a theme for the custom paint job on her 2011 F-150. The theme is also carried through on the headlights and taillights.
"I said, 'I want sugar skulls,'" Burgess said. "It's a memory of loved ones lost." She also has plenty of pink ribbons on the truck, the symbol for breast cancer research, to honor her friends who are cancer survivors.
Bo Pittman did the paint job. Wasn't hard, he said when we caught up to him late last year at SEMA aftermarket parts show in Las Vegas. And the truck sure gets plenty of looks.
"I feel like a celebrity driving the truck. I get pictures taken all the time, video taken, people hollering at me," Burgess said. "I know they are looking at the truck."
