BMW adds more room inside new X1 SUV
BMW is going to dress up its entry-level SUV, the X1, for its next generation, giving it more interior room, adding more fuel efficiency and technology.
Coming in the fall, BMW is billing the new X1 as the most powerful luxury SUV in the segment. It will be powered by a 2-liter twin-turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 228 horsepower. That motor will be coupled with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Besides more room inside and more ways to carry cargo, the X1 will now have standard power seats in front. Seat height is raised by an inch and 2.5 inches in the back seat. Also, there's 1.5 inches more leg room in the rear.
As for technology, there are now full-LED adaptive headlights, a heads-up display and other touches.
Standard equipment also includes front fog-lamps, alarm with remote-controlled central locking and keyless engine ignition, electric window controls, electrically adjustable and heated exterior mirrors, a multifunction leather steering wheel adjustable for height and reach, a rain sensor including automatic headlight control and Dynamic Cruise Control.
