Violent road rage attack caught on tape
LOS ANGELES — A violent road-rage incident between two men on a busy Hollywood boulevard easily could have turned deadly, a video recording of the incidents shows.
Two motorists engaged in a fistfight on Sunset Boulevard, near Highland Avenue, after one apparently tried to to cut off the other in traffic, as seen on the video obtained by KNBC-TV, Los Angeles. One narrowly missed being knocked into the path of a red commercial van while being pummeled by the other man, who is wearing a dress shirt and tie.
The encounter begins when a man in one green sedan attempts to reach out to another car. The other driver retaliates by moving his car right into the adjacent lane, blocking the path of the driver who struck at his vehicle.
Both men scramble out of their cars in the middle of traffic. One heads right into the other, fists flying.
That's when the near fatal hit almost takes place, but both men seem oblivious to the near-death experience.
Instead, the first man returns to his car and drives off. It appears that passersby attempt to get to him, but he wards them off and makes his escape.
The incident was not reported to police, but officers are looking into the case anyway based on the recording, according to KNBC-TV. The scene was in the heart of Hollywood, less than a mile from the theater where the Academy Awards is held every year.
