Pickup trucks helped Ford eke out a small sales gain in November, compared to the same period a month earlier.

The automaker recorded a 0.4% increase for the month. An 18% gain for trucks balanced out a 12% decline for cars and a 10% decline in sales of sport-utility vehicles and crossovers.

The Ford brand posted a 1% gain for the month to 179,876 units, while the luxury Lincoln brand fell 2% to 7,918.

The F-series pickup truck, the most popular vehicle in the U.S., rose 10% to 65,192 vehicles.

Even as overall sales were flat, Ford bragged that its average transaction price rose $3,800, compared to a year earlier, fueling profits.

“We saw strong customer demand for our cars and SUVs with the latest technology and sold a very rich mix in November,” said Mark LaNeve, Ford vice president of U.S. sales, marketing and service, in a statement.
