Kia jumps into SUV craze with concept car
Kia takes aim at the SUV market with the Telluride plug-in hybrid concept car it unveiled Monday at the auto show. The luxury vehicle features black leather 'captain's seats' equipped with sensors to read the passenger's health vitals that display on screens on the interior door.
Honda Civic named North American Car of the Year
Honda completely redid the Civic, one of country's top selling cars, to make it longer, wider and lower for a racy appearance. It was given a turbocharged engine option for 174 horsepower, yet the same 35-mile-per-gallon average as the less powerful, less expensive non-turbo engine.

Mercedes-Benz new E-Class midsize sedan
As luxury automakers vie to roll out the most breakthrough features, Mercedes-Benz may have found one of the most obscure yet for the new E-Class midsize sedan: protecting passengers' hearing in the event of a crash. And that's only the start. The 10th generation of the venerable Mercedes-Benz E-Class plays heavy on a sleek new look and breakthrough technologies.
Fiat Chrysler's new Pacifica minivan

Ford Fusion sedan
Ford is expanding the lineup for the 2017 Fusion with a new, fanciest version and new engines, but it's not messing with the basic, stunning design that has put the midsize sedan on more shopping lists. Nissan Titan Warrior
Nissan designers gave the Titan pickup truck a tough-guy overhaul with the introduction of the Titan Warrior concept pickup at the Detroit auto show. By Nissan's own admission, the Titan Warrior's exuberant design goes to "new extremes with unapologetic, aggressive, athletic styling features that declare the concept’s offroad adventure intent and Nissan’s optimism for the truck market," the company said in a statement.
Volvo's XC90 crossover
Volvo won the coveted North American Truck/Utility of the Year award here for its innovative XC90 crossover, helping to power the Swedish brand's comeback. The XC90 wass one of the first new vehicles to emerge from Volvo, which changed ownership during the recession. It was owned by Ford and now is controlled predominantly by China's Geely Motors. The XC90 broke through because it stood apart: the world's first modern seven-seat plug-in hybrid SUV.
